Ingredients
  

For the Manicotti

  • 12 pieces Manicotti pasta The star of the show—ideal for stuffing.
  • 1 lb Ground beef or sausage Opt for lean ground beef or Italian sausage.
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped Adds a savory base.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced For garlicky goodness.
  • 24 oz Marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese The creamy filling star.
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded For gooey melty goodness.
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated For a lovely nutty flavor.
  • 1 large Egg Helps bind the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For flavor depth.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Basic essentials for flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bring a big pot of salted water to a boil and cook the manicotti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the Meat

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the meat is cooked and onions are translucent.
  • Drain excess fat.

Make the Sauce

  • Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella, parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.

Stuff the Manicotti

  • Fill a Ziploc bag with the cheese mixture, snip off a corner, and pipe it into the manicotti shells.

Assemble and Bake

  • Spread some meat sauce in a baking dish, arrange the stuffed manicotti on top, and pour the remaining meat sauce over.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella on top and cover with foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Serve

  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Don't overstuff the manicotti to allow for expansion. This dish can be made ahead and thus is perfect for meal prep.
