  • 1/4 cup apple cider Adds sweetness and moisture.
  • 4 whole burger buns Use soft, toasted whole grain buns.
  • to taste none salt and pepper Season generously.
  • butter none for toasting buns For buttery toasted buns.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Gently form the ground beef into burger patties and press your thumb in the center of each patty.
  • Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
  • In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of gouda on each patty to melt.

Assembly

  • Toast the burger buns with butter in a separate pan until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burgers by placing the gouda-covered patty on the bottom half of the bun, layer on the apple slices, and drizzle apple cider over the top.
  • Top with the other half of the bun and serve.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to ensure beef is cooked to 160°F. Let burgers rest for a few minutes after cooking.
