  • 1 cup sugar For sweetness and a lovely crust.
  • 1 cup honey The star of the show; adds richness and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk For moisture; can be substituted with almond or oat milk.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Keeps the cake moist; melted coconut oil can also be used.
  • 3 large eggs Bind everything together.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder To give the cake some lift.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Helps the cake rise and develop a lovely crumb.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Provides warmth and aroma.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves Adds aromatic spice.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • Chopped walnuts or almonds for topping Optional but highly recommended for crunch!

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with oil or butter and flour it.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix honey, milk, vegetable oil, and eggs until combined.
  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the surface.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness at the 30-minute mark.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, drizzle honey over the top and sprinkle chopped nuts.

Notes

Keep ingredients at room temperature. Don't overmix to avoid a dense cake. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil.
