Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce (for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  • Toss beef slices with 2 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl; let rest 10 minutes.
  • Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and broth in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Stir-fry beef in batches until browned (1-2 minutes), then remove and set aside.
  • Add remaining oil to pan. Stir-fry garlic and ginger until fragrant (20-30 seconds).
  • Add carrots and broccoli; stir-fry 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp. Add bell pepper and cook 1-2 minutes more.
  • Return beef and green onions to the pan.
  • Pour in the sauce, tossing to coat everything evenly. Cook 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice.
