  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar Helps balance the tartness of cranberries.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Orange Zest Adds a lovely citrusy brightness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon For a warm, aromatic holiday flavor.
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt Enhances flavors without making it salty.
  • 1 tablespoon Water Optional for cooking cranberries.

Instructions
 

Preparing the Cranberry Compote

  • Rinse the cranberries thoroughly and discard any soft or shriveled ones.
  • Combine cranberries, sugar, orange zest, ground cinnamon, and sea salt in a small saucepan. Add water if worried about sticking.
  • Cook over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes until cranberries burst and mixture thickens.
  • Cool the compote completely at room temperature.

Whipping the Butter

  • Ensure the unsalted butter is softened at room temperature.
  • Whip the butter in a stand mixer on medium speed for about 5 to 7 minutes until fluffy.
  • Gradually add honey and remaining orange zest while mixing until combined.

Combining the Compote and Butter

  • Gently fold the cooled cranberry compote into the whipped honey butter until just combined.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Best served chilled with warm bread or pancakes. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks. Can be made ahead or frozen for up to three months.
