Blackberry Limeade

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ice as needed ice cubes
  • to taste sparkling water or ginger ale (optional)
  • for garnish fresh mint leaves and lime slices (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, mashing the berries gently as they soften.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for 15–30 minutes to deepen the flavor.
  • Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing to extract as much juice as possible. Discard solids.
  • Add freshly squeezed lime juice to the syrup and stir well.
  • Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water and stir to combine. Adjust sweetness or tartness to taste by adding more water or sugar if desired.
  • Refrigerate until chilled. When ready to serve, pour over ice cubes and top with sparkling water or ginger ale if using.
  • Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices for a beautiful presentation.
