Bird Dog Sandwich

Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich

  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Preferably fresh and crusty; should hold all filling.
  • 1 pound grilled chicken tenders Can be marinated with favorite spices.
  • 8 slices cooked bacon Crisped to perfection.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Compliments the chicken and ranch.
  • ½ cup ranch dressing A Southern staple, can be homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 cup dill pickle chips Adds tangy crunch.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For toasting the hoagie rolls.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, keeping one side attached.
  • Butter the inside of each hoagie roll.

Toasting and Cooking

  • Toast the buttered rolls in the oven for about 5 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Grill the chicken tenders for 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked through.

Assembly

  • Layer the cooked chicken tenders in the toasted rolls.
  • Add 2 slices of crispy bacon per sandwich.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Return the sandwiches to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove them from the oven and drizzle ranch dressing over the melted cheese.
  • Top with dill pickle chips before serving.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for optimal texture. Avoid microwaving for best results.
